Third night of storms and lightning chasing

Published by:

Very tired this morning after the third night of storm and lightning chasing. Didn't get home till 12.50am after Rodney and I were treated to an amazing display of lightning in the Clarence Valley. We had a beautiful spot beside the Clarence River at Lawrence - awesome !

This follows the amazing show on Sunday night and also Monday night !

Could be some more this afternoon and evening, though its going to be quite hot today - Lismore expected to hit 38. Profile suggests further south will be  better for storms.

Spoke to Jimmy a couple of times yesterday as he was chasing the southern Mid North Coast.

Overcast with oppressive humidity follows lightning show

Overcast with oppressive humidity so far today. Storms should start to fire along the ranges and then hopefully closer for an afternoon chase here.

Yesterday was a long chase with Rodney and Greg Spencer (visiting from WA) with lightning persisting well into this morning. Very tired due to lack of sleep, but can't complain with over 100 photos !

Marginal conditions for storms

It was quite hot down here yesterday and a reminder of the smoke haze coming over during the afternoon and evening. Southerly change passed through overnight making this morning overcast. I was thinking of going for a chase today but again time beat me and risk of ordinary to substandard storms in the chasable vicinity made heading there unworthwhile.

Perhaps tomorrow or Tuesday or I will hve to await another 10 or so days:)
