On this day 21 years ago, I was to memorise 2 sets of 19 maps of AVN (GFS) and targetted Coffs Harbour. A storm developed on the Dorrigo Plateau mountain embedded in the base. Within 2 hours at Corindi Beach to
experience my first beaver tail. Experience large to giant hail north of there along the highway. Was there a tornado or two in this storm - we will never know but the beaver tail was testament to the balance between inflow and supercell air dynamics. Certainly a big classic supercell.I travelled down the coast to experience supercells into the night. $200 phone bill that month haha who cares can’t replace memories like this!
