More hype
There is some hype there…. it’s the media, of course it’s hyped. However models are indicating some pretty extreme cold. Lows next Wednesday in the low 20s in the Mid-South, and subfreezing all the way to the Gulf coast on both the Euro and GFS models.
The US loves daily records – which are not of much consequence. When monthly or all time records go, either hot or cold, it’s of more note – but daily records, both high and low, are much less interesting.
