There is an intense heat wave occurring across wide areas of northwestern Australia with temperatures again soaring to near 50 degrees Celcuius. These two images show the both the scale and intesity of the heat wave. Also not between one image and the other an impressive sea breeze effect along 2000km or so worth of coastline! The region is expected to get relief once the major tropical low develops. Although this situation is for Sunday 12th January, similar conditions are and have been  occurring for days. The lack of a wet season and associated cloud cover as well as land temperatures have assisted in building a very hot air mass. Onslow for instance hit 48C and similar temperatures affected nearby regions.

The heat is expected to be affecting southeastern Australia next week including Adelaide and Melbourne.
