Given the moisture building up under a trough in SE Qld and contracting inland, and given the wind profile, a combination of shear and instability is sufficient for supercells and large hail with damaging winds. Initially the main focus will be in the Mackay to Rockhampton region but generally the region in the Central Highlands near Emeral etc will see an increase in thudnerstorm activity and severe storms included.
