Whilst Brisbane and parts of SE Queensland are drenched with heavy rain, the Bureau of Meteorology ACCESS models are picking up the development of a tropical depression off the Queensland coast by the end of January. Although it is early in the period and much can change, the anticipated path has it heading towards the Queensland coast near Mackay/Rockhampton. If this is the case, it will test the low lying areas particularly if it develops into a tropical cyclone.
