Melbourne has experienced its hottest day on record of 46.4C which is not only a February record but an all time record surpassing the January 1939 figure of 45.7C. Furthermore, this record has now exceeded all records of any city around Australia. What an incredible event. The cooler change has hit Melbourne finally.

Here in Sydney, we have had heat for an extended period of time. In fact, it has been above the 30C for much of January and February thus far with some figures nearing and over 40C. It got to 42C today and tomorrow is no difference with similar temperatures expected before a southerly change that will finally ease the searing temperatures.
