Rainfall Predictions Queensland_Weekly 17th February 2014

Just as NSW north west received significant rainfall to help disturb the dust caused by the drought, likely drought breaking rains are possible in parts of western Queensland in some of the worst hit areas of the drought. These region experienced heavy flooding about a year ago followed by virtually no rainfall. The monsoon will begin to affect the region and a low pressure trough will stagnate over the region during the week.

Falls of up to 100mm and some more localised falls above 150mm may fall in the regions near Longreach topping up some of the deficiencies. Given it is a follow up further upstream of recent rainfall, flooding is possible given the flat low lying terrain of the Channel Country.
