In Australia, a severe thunderstorm is a strong thunderstorm with wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h and/or hail with a diameter of 2cm or greater, produces heavy rainfall sufficient to cause flash flooding or spawns a tornado. A storm or thunderstorm is a cumulonimbus cloud that can produce lightning and thunder usually producing gusty winds, heavy rain and sometimes hail.
