Heavy rainfall is expected to fall in the Hunter region projected towards the Sydney and Wollongong region this evening and overnight. There is a possibility of falls in excess of 100mm of rain although most of the falls are likely to be about 50mm. The region has not recovered from the recent drenching within the past 2 weeks and this can only add to the already saturated soil in many areas. Earlier, very heavy rainfall fell across regions to the northeast of NSW and SE Queensland areas causing severe flooding.
Unusual to have a warning of dangerous storms with very heavy rainfall but this is exactly what is happening north of Brisbane. Convergence along the coastal district as concentrating storms that are relatively slow moving and training on the same region dumping very heavy rainfall at the rate of 100mm/hr.
