Northern Tablelands Storm Chase 23rd December 2016

A sample of the photographs from this very long 10 hour storm chase! We went from Guyra eventually through to Tingha and Bundarra and then to Uralla. From there we went to Kentucky and near Woolbrook and Niangala and down to Tamworth region and then down to Murrundi for the lightning show - this was the last storm in the complex! Lightning from the first Guyra storm complex - rolling shutter. Picture of the car tyre obliteration included!

As of 10pm, we have just finished chasing. Noon near Guyra through to Bundarra to Uralla to tough chasing country as we went through to Niangala and then on to Tamworth where we passed several cells to Murrurindi until 10pm might be a 2am arrival for me.

Storms and Lightning Warwick Queensland 21st December 2016

Frustrating day today in the Northern Rivers. Met up with Michael Keene and Michael Bath for a chase. Michael Keene and us parted to the Queensland border to Warwick. Bit of a lightning show - cropped images were necessary on this occasion. Thanks to Michael Keene for driving us out there for the lightning. As per normal best viewed as full screen.

Supercell - Lightning hits tree

Lightning hits tree. This is a longer version of the 3rd December 2016 Kyogle to Beaudesert Supercell. It was requested to me to provide a full account of the supercell from NSW through to Queensland. So I have put together a more in depth account of the chase beginning from Kyogle and on to areas north of Kyogle. Finally a better edit of the intense phase in Queensland from over the border through to Rathdowney where giant hail was reported. Next a lightning fest on approach to Beaudesert.

A lightning hit a tree near the road 10metres away and then another in the field (which was filmed)! Please enjoy in full screen, HD and sound turned up!

It was a spectacular storm in its large size and very active lightning observed as well as significant hailstones. The storm being slow moving allowed for the relatively rare opportunity to chase in New South Wales and southern Queensland.
